I Would Like a Refill, Please!

Sweet-Tea

Several years ago, I made a trip to Boston.  Being from the deep South all my life, it was a new experience for me, to say the least.  Going into one particular restaurant, I had a hankering – a craving for you Northerners – for some sweet iced tea.  When I asked the waiter, he looked at me as if I had lost my mind.  “There is sugar on the table,” he stated rather smugly.  Good thing I didn’t ask for grits.  His head might have exploded.

Now, you folk from the North don’t know a thing about sweet tea, especially when drank from a Mason jar.  You cannot…and I repeat…you cannot add sugar to tea after it has gotten cold.  All that sugary goodness just drops to the bottom of the glass quicker than my IQ after watching one episode of the Kardashian’s.  Nope, sugar must…

More Please

 God's Abundance

                         “More Please”

Read 1 Chronicles 3:1 through 4:23; John 1:19–39

Many Christians wonder if God has more for them. It is not that these believers are greedy or ungrateful. Most do not want additional blessings for the wrong reason. They understand biblical promises, but wonder why many of them remain unrealized in their lives.

Some people feel better after prayer for healing, but desire to be totally free from any remaining pain. Pastors envision larger churches with greater impact in their communities, and families dream of moving from apartments to modest homes. Believers realize that God has already blessed them, yet they desire more.

Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” And God granted his request (1 Chronicles 4:10).

We should never hesitate to ask God in prayer for His blessing. God has an endless supply to give and He loves to grant the requests of those who honor and trust Him. He knows we need His blessing. God listened to Jabez, blessed him, then granted his request for more. He can do the same for us.

Thought for Today: God loves blessing His children. Just ask Him.
